Soun of Ogbomoso embarrasses Akala, refuses ex-gov entry into palace; 2019 senatorial ambition ‘shaky’

It was an embarrassing day for former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, in Ogbomoso, on Thursday.
Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade, practically walked him out of his palace.
The drama occurred about 4:30pm.
After the 50th remembrance lecture for the late Premier of the defunct Western Region, Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola, which was held at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Governor Abiola Ajimobi took Alao-Akala to the first-class monarch to, according to a source, beg for forgiveness.
In the build-up to the 2011 election, Alao-Akala, the then incumbent governor and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), engaged in a verbal war with the Soun and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.
Since then, Alao-Akala, an indigene of Ogbomoso, had not been to the Soun’s palace.
Until Thursday.
Alao-Akala is also an in-law to the monarch.
Oba Ajagungbade’s last wife, Olori Olaronke, is Alao-Akala’s first cousin.
Because of the way the former governor disrespected her husband, she has not spoken with him for years.
Ajimobi and Alao-Akala arrived the palace at 4:25pm and were in the outer chamber when the monarch received them.
The real drama started after five minutes when Ajimobi told him: “Kabiyesi, mo fe bayin soro sir” (Monarch, I want to discuss with you sir).
Oba Ajagungbade immediately told him to enter the inner chamber (where important visitors are received).
Alao-Akala wanted to follow the governor and the monarch said: “Akala, o le wo ibi yi” (Akala, you cannot enter this place).
Ajimobi pleaded for the former governor to be allowed to follow him but it was a fruitless exercise as the monarch stood his ground.
It was an embarrassing situation for Alao-Akala as none of those around pleaded on his behalf.
Ajimobi was with the monarch for about 18 minutes.
He emerged at 4:48 and immediately went into his car, followed by Alao-Akala.
They left the palace at 4:50pm.
When Ajimobi begged the monarch to forgive the former governor, Freedom Online learned that Oba Ajagungbade told the governor “Akala’s sins” and how he almost desecrated the royal institution “when he was fighting me”.
Said the source: “Baba (monarch) told the governor that the most painful aspect of it is that Alao-Akala is an indigene of Ogbomosoland. What he did was a taboo, embarrassing not just our king but the royal stool, just because of politics”.
Freedom Online learned that the shocker Alao-Akala received at the palace was a rehearsal “for things to come”.
It was gathered that Alao-Akala defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) a few weeks ago to realise his ambition of representing Oyo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly in 2019.
“But the incumbent senator, Fatai Buhari, is well loved by the people. There is no way he can dislodge Buhari in 2019. APC leaders won’t even give him the ticket. Remember that the APC state chairman, Chief Akin Oke, is also a prominent indigene of Ogbomoso and he doesn’t like Akala at all. In fact, they are sworn enemies”, said the source.
