Shooting Stars hero Ogbein Fawole is dead

Former Super Eagles defender and Shooting Stars hero, Ogbein Fawole, is dead.
He died on Monday evening in his Lagos residence, at the age of 58.
Fawole, who captained IICC Shooting Stars during the ill-fated final of the African Champions Cup now (CAF Champions League) against the Zamalek of Egypt in Lagos in 1984, died of cardiac arrest, according to his immediate younger brother, Harry Ogbein.
The remains of the prolific defender, who is survived by a wife and four children, has been deposited at the morgue, pending the decision of the family for his burial plans after meeting this week.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Oyo State, Hon.Abayomi Okem and the Oyo State FA boss, Chief James Odeniran, has joined in mourning with the Shooting Stars management and the family of the deceased.
The Commissioner described Ogbein’s death as a shock and another big loss to the Oyo State football family haven just lost an active member of the team in Bayelsa State.
Odeniran, however, called for prayers and said: “May God stop this calamity within our football circle. Ogbein was an important member of Shooting Stars in the 80s and he always demonstrated his love for the club, even after leaving. May God give his family the fortitude to bear the sudden loss”, he noted.
