SECCIMA honours NACCIMA national president, Udeagbala

South East Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (SECCIMA), on Thursday, held an Exclusive dinner party in honour of the National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Ide John.C. Udeagbala.

In his address at the colourful event held at the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture Secretariat, old trade Fair complex , Enugu, (ECCIMA),
President of SECCIMA, Humphrey Ngonadi, said that the event was “to receive and appreciate the national president “SECCIMA is proud of”.

He said, “We appreciate the way you are managing and leading the Chambers. We want to say we appreciate you. People of the South-East will raise their heads very high because the national president is doing well. We are proud of associating with him.”

Ngonadi urged the NACCIMA president to keep doing the good job, assuring him that they (South East Chambers) will stand by him.He announced that Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry ,Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA) built a Secretariat and donated it to SECCIMA.

In his presentation on “Tax implications of Ease of Doing Business”, chairman, Tax Appeal Tribunal , Barrister Chukwuemeka Ezeh ,advised tax payers to always pay their taxes legally and shun payment through illegal.means, bribing tax officials . He explained that such act does not help as the person in question will spend so much in giving bribes and will still pay his tax.

Eze told the gathering that, the Federal Inland Revenue
Services (FIRS)has a scheme,”Qualified Capital Expenditure” whereby the expenditure is removed after calculation , certificate issued to the client and the tax he will pay is less. He added that if certificate is not issued to the client , FIRS will not substract the money.

Ezeh hinted hat tax and bank related issues are things people should be careful with. He advised tax payers to always include tax to their budgets for easy payment.
He disclosed that plans were on to launch one emblem that will be used across the country to reduce mutiple payment of emblems by drivers

Speaking at the event, the national president of NASSIMA, Ide John Udeagbala, thanked SECCIMA , ECCIMA, Chairman of Tax Appeal Tribunal, and all those who graced the occasion for the honour done him. He appealed to SECCIMA to create more Chambers of Commerce ni the South East zone to boost businesses in the region..

He said,”NACCIMA job is not an easy one. It’s a journey of not less than 30 years. I want to thank God so much for His blessings. I want to thank you for your support.,” Udeagbala said.

He announced that their Annual General Meeting(AGM) is fast approaching, and urged members to be part of it.
The National President disclosed that two boards came out since his assumption of office.”There is hope that there will be more boards when new president comes.

“There are statutory Government Committees that it’s only national.president that will be part of. I will use the remaining one year of my office to create more chances for people to be members of the board.”, he said.

The NASSIMA national President told the gathering that there’s a revolution going on and “very soon they will sign one emblem for Nigeria.

“If this is the only thing I will achieve as a president , I will be happy. I know where the shoe pinches. If the emblem is one, drivers will be relieved of multiple payment of emblems in different parts of the country”, he said.

Udeagbala who could not hide his joy in the successes NACCIMA had recorded so far, said that “NACCIMA went to Dubai and got a skipping role. NACCIMA is number one in bringing out a solution that will help businesses.”

He attributed the success to the efforts of Tony Ejikonye and urged Chambers to liase with Tony Ejikonye to build more capacity .

Earlier in his brief welcome address, the President, ECCIMA, Barrister Jasper Nduagwuike extoled the leadership qualities of the NACCIMA national president, Ide John Udeagbala and described him as an astute gentleman and an award winner

In an opening remarks, the Director General, Enugu Chamber of Commerce ,Industry, Mines and Agriculture Engr. Henry Nduka Awuregu said that the dinner was couples dinner in honour of the NACCIMA National President.

Highlights of the event were presentation of songs by the Glorious Singers and jokes by Stand up comedians
Dignitaries at the event included, Deputy presidents of SECCIMA, Pharmacist Sir Emeka Udeze, Barrister Mbawuike, Emmanuel Ezeh.
Presidents of various Chambers of Commerce present were, Pharmacist Sir Uche Akpaka,(Anambra), Chief J O. Kalu(Aba) Sir Lawrence Obeta, Chief Kelvin. ,(Onitsha) ,first female president of Chambers Princess Carol Achelo(Awka), Prince Jude Osumbo(Nnewi), past president of ECCIMA, Sir Rob Awagu. Others are Barr.Chukwuemeka Eze, Pastor Makua ,Vice President ECCIMA among others.
