Russia bombarded Ukraine with airstrikes overnight, killing at least two people, local authorities said on Monday.

A strike on the Black Sea port city of Odessa killed one man and damaged civilian infrastructure, the regional military governor, Oleh Kiper, said.

The military governor of Ukraine’s southern Kherson region, Oleksandr Prokudin, said a 35-year-old man was fatally injured when a drone hit a tractor near the town of Beryslav.

In north-eastern Kharkiv, drone attacks on residential buildings injured 27 people, including three children, the city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said.

In a renewed attack, a further 16 people were injured, according to Terekhov.

He wrote on Telegram that within 10 minutes, six Shahed drones attacked the city.

The army reported on Facebook that a recruitment centre building in Kharkiv was hit.

In Zaporizhzhya, a drone reportedly crashed near a recruitment centre.

According to preliminary information, a soldier was injured there. Military Governor Ivan Fedorov wrote on Telegram about 17 injured.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia deployed 101 drones and decoy drones during the night, 58 of which were shot down and 17 were downed electronically.

Moscow also reportedly fired four repurposed S-300/400 air-defence missiles.

The Defence Ministry in Moscow said it had shot down 93 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory and the annexed Crimean peninsula.

Ukraine has been defending itself against the full-scale Russian invasion for more than three years.

As part of its defensive efforts, it also targets sites in Russia.

The previous day, two people were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack, according to the governor of the Russian region of Belgorod, Vyacheslav Gladkov.

The casualties and damage inflicted on Russia by Ukraine are much more limited than the devastating consequences of the Russian war in Ukraine.
