Rep donates multi-million naira internet facilities to school, NTA

A member of the House of Representatives (APC, Oyo Federal Constituency), Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, has donated
multi-million naira internet facilities to Ojongbodu Grammar School in Oyo West Local Government Area.
The solar-powered facilities include 16 computers programed with softwares which contain core subjects as well information about the constituency,
Also, equipment worth N700,000 were provided to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Oyo, to aid its services.
Similarly, a skills acquisition centre where residents can learn any vocation such as liquid soap making, make up, computer, tying and dying and hat making for three months free of charge was commissioned.
Speaking at the events, Adeniyi said a database of all
unemployed youths would soon be embarked upon.
He also hinted that a fund would soon be created for most vulnerable children, from which their upkeeps, including school fees, will be taken care of.
The federal lawmaker noted that the country undoubtedly has a very youthful age structure, with over 45 per cent of its total population under the age of 15 years, adding that it is indeed a big demographic challenge and responsibility for government and civil society, since the young generations is the future of a nation.
“Recently, Nigeria has been faced with increased insurgency
of various manifolds. This include bombing, kidnapping, armed robbery attack and many more. Many of these militants/insurgents appeared to be youths, who incredibly believed in the future of the country.’’
While assuring his constituents of unalloyed commitment to whatever that can uplift them from the present state of subservience to a more state of opportunities and prosperity galore, Adeniyi said unlike his predecessor who shirked in his reponsibility to the people’s well being, the present administration, at the three tiers, are desirous of providing basic facilities like good education, for prosperous future
for the youths.
“What we are doing today is a tip of the iceberg. It is a mark of appreciation to the constituents. A great number of children leave their homes due to emotional poverty. The visible number of children, who give up their homes and prefer to live in the streets, is a symbol for the neglect of the young generation’’.
Commissioning the projects, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamdi Adeyemi 111, said the people “are our country’s greatest resource”.
“A healthy, educated and energised citizenry raises the country’s chances for sustainable development and prosperity. The work at hand is urgent: to reduce poverty incidence to 16.6 per cent by 2015 and meet key Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), particularly in basic
education and healthcare”.
The paramount ruler noted that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration’s strategy to fighting poverty is to empower the poor and the marginalised segments of society.
“This means providing a “life vest” to those currently drowning in extreme poverty through social protection interventions. At the same time, fighting poverty also means investing in people’s capacity to participate meaningfully in the economy, access gainful livelihood and improve the quality of their lives’’.
