The President of Malaria Society of Nigeria (MSN), Dr Puddie Combe, has advised Nigerians who are 40 years and above to always go for regular checkup to prevent untimely death.
Combe said in Ota, Ogun State on Tuesday that such exercise would give room for early detection of deadly diseases that could lead to sudden death.
He said some people with high blood pressure prefer embarking on self medication to seeking medical treatment in hospitals.
Combe explained that such behaviour was delicate for the safety of lives because people had often collapsed in the process and died instantly.
“There is the need to re-orientate and educate Nigerians on the importance of regular checkup because it makes people to live long,“ Combe said.
He advised the citizenry to reduce intake of alcohol because it had been implicated as one of the major factors contributing to liver and kidney dysfunction as well as high blood pressure.
