Dear sir,
PETITION AGAINST ONE OLUWASEYI AKOGUN FOR THE WANTON DESTRUCTION OF THE FAMILY PROPERTY OF AKANBI POPOOLA DESCENDANT AT NO. 58, OLD OJOO ROAD, AJEGUNLE, LAGOS STATE.
We act as solicitors to the family and descendants of Akanbi Popoola (hereinafter called ‘our clients’) on whose express instructions we address this urgent petition to your exalted office.
Our clients briefed us that their family house located at No 58, Old Ojoo Road, Ajegunle, Lagos has been in existence for more than 70 years. The family has never had any controversy on the built-up property with either the Ojora family or any family whatsoever. Our clients had been in peaceful possession and had let out the property to tenants collecting rent therefrom without any challenge for more than 7 decades.
In a very strange manner, while everyone was preparing for the yuletide period, one Oluwaseyi Akogun who is a notorious land grabber came to our clients property around 22nd of December, 2023 with large number of armed thugs, brandishing gun, cutlasses and cudgels and descended on the family property at No 58., Old Ojoo Road, Ajegunle and caused unimaginable damages to the property.
The said Oluwaseyi Akogun, without any court order, descended on the house, drove the tenants out, removed the roofs of the house, broke down the windows, mutilated the entire property and caused irreparable damages to the house. The said Oluwaseyi Akogun whose telephone numbers are 08023044764 and 08023044767 has now fenced the property with corrugated iron sheet, put padlocks and stationed ferocious thugs to ward off our clients or any person whatsoever from the property. The act carried out by this Akogun is akin to an invasion of a country by another country. As at now, our clients’ tenants and properties are on the road while all the valuable things in the house have been carted away by Oluwaseyi Akogun and his gangs.
Sir, we wish to bring to your notice that there has never been any litigation on this property since our client progenitor, (Akanbi Popoola) built the house about 70 years ago. The act of Oluwaseyi Akogun is dastardly, barbaric, animalistic, cruel and very inhumane.
Section 2 of the Lagos State Properties Protection Law 2016 prohibits this barbaric act carried out by Akogun and his militia on our client’s property. This Law punishes criminals who engage in the sordid act carried out by Akogun and his cohorts.J

Sir, though there are lots of lawlessness in the country, we urge your command to quickly set appropriate mercenary in motion to arrest this rascal called Akogun and his team. We urge your command to prosecute him and his cohorts for this barbaric act. He should be made to pay for all the losses occasioned by this nefarious act.
We urge sir, to give accelerated consideration to this petition.
