The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Dakuku Peterside, has accused Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State of being an agent of arrested development.
Speaking during the inauguration of Free Rivers Development Initiative held at Bori, headquarters of Khana local government area of Rivers State at the weekend, Peterside described Wike’s administration as a government that has underdeveloped the local government.
In his words, ”I had the privilege of seeing the government records last week, they claim by their record that they have spent N450 billion executing projects in two years, 6 months; even by their own records, they have spent less than N50 million in Khana LGA out of N450bn. There is no other sign that he hates us with passion. We are going to stop him in his tracks.
“I’m not going to make a long speech, you all know that I grew up here; you know my house in Court Road, you know my house at Kenule street, you know my house at CPC road.”
The NIMASA boss while speaking further noted that when Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi became the governor of Rivers State, he was appointed the commissioner for works and was given one simple mandate to go and construct all roads in Bori, adding that “our leader wanted to build a new city in Bori.”
”Amaechi built schools in Ogoni, he built health centres in Ogoni, his mandate was that his successor will build the new town, and somehow in words, we can’t explain somebody came, a man who is an agent of arrested development.
“Our Leader, Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi represents the vision of the legendary Ken Saro-Wiwa. I had the privilege of participating in all rallies of MOSOP and I can tell you that what Wike and his cohorts are doing does not represent the spirit of Ogoni, they don’t represent the spirit of the founding fathers of Rivers State. APC represents the vision of Saro-Wiwa, we represent the vision of our founding fathers.
“We have made a commitment to you as a party that we will represent accelerated development for Ogoni people, accelerated development for Khana people; all you need do is to queue behind our leader and from the 30th May 2019 you will see accelerated development in Ogoni,” he summed up.
