Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has pledged to sustain his support to traditional institutions to encourage them to uphold the virtues of peace, unity and stability in the society.
He made the pledge during the turbanning of Deputy Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Bagudo, as Garkuwan Bahigi Badugo and 21 other illustrious sons of Bagudo.
The turbanning was done by Bahigi Bagudo, who is also the District Head of Bagudo, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Khalid, at his palace in Bagudo, Bagudo Local Government Area of the state, on Saturday.
The governor, who described traditional institutions as the custodians of peace, culture and tradition, also charged them to remain pillars of support to their subjects.
While advising the traditional tittle holders to be law abiding and discharge their traditional duties according to the norms and values of the area, Idris also urged them to be good ambassadors of the district.
He tasked them to be conscious of security breaches and do everything possible to promote peace, unity and brotherliness amongst their people for the good of the society and the state at large.
The Bahigi of Bagudo appreciated the governor for the support and encouragement the traditional institutions are enjoying from his administration.
Khalid assured the governor of total loyalty to all policies and programs of the present administration in view of Idris’ kind gesture to his people regardless of political or tribal leaning.
Dignitaries that graced the at event included former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the federation, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, SAN; Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Mohammed Ankwai; and Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida.
