PDP will defeat APC in Kano, says Sambo

Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo has expressed his confidence that with the massive following and loyalty of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the entire people of Kano State, the party will be victorious in all elective positions in the general elections.
Sambo expressed this confidence in Kano when he met with PDP officials, party stalwarts and other stakeholders and supporters of the Jonathan/Sambo and Takai/Riskuwa 2015 Campaign organisations.
The Vice President, who was visibly impressed with the warm reception and the solid support base of the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan-led administration in the North-West state, enjoined the stakeholders to massively mobilise the people to come out en-masse to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote for PDP candidates from the presidential, governorship, National Assembly to the House of Assembly durning the elections. To him, candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties have to chance during the March 28 and April 11 elections.
Sambo also charged them to educate the people on how to vote properly during the elections, while stressing the need for them to preach to the people to conduct themselves peacefully during and after the elections, even as he emphasised that the administration was determined and committed to delivering free, fair and violence free elections.
He explained that Jonathan was neither against the progress of the North nor was he religiously biased, reeling out the various people-oriented programmes and projects carried out by the administration in Kano State.
Sambo also said that shifting the general elections was a blessing to Nigerians.
He explained that holding it as earlier scheduled would have prevented 23 million eligible voters from exercising their civic responsibility.
“We thank God that the postponement of the elections has been a blessing to Nigerians. The INEC extended the period for the distribution of the PVCs to March 22, otherwise 23 million Nigerians would have been short changed’’, he said.
According to him, the postponement would give many eligible voters the opportunity to collect their PVCs before the deadline.
“Let us be fair to everybody. There is nothing wrong with the card reader but our concern is free, fair and credible elections. We don’t want anything wrong from the card reader and even to address the issue of corruption, you must ensure free and fair election’’, he said.
