Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were told on Sunday that for the country to progress politically and economically, Pastor Chris Okotie should be adopted as a consensus candidate for the 2019 presidential election.
Okotie, the Pastor in charge of Household of God, Oregun, disclosed this in Lagos while speaking with reporters.
The popular cleric said God told him that the two parties should adopt him as their presidential candidate.
He declared that he had re-emerged from his political hibernation to contest for the presidency.
“I am appealing to PDP to adopt me as a consensus presidential candidate at the next election. I also want the party to within the confines of conventional propriety to temporize and observe a peaceful hiatus in the commonality of the Nigerian brotherhood and embrace me as their remedial facilitator.
“I have also extended the same overtures to the APC. I believe this is the time to demonstrate our love for Nigeria. I am also fully persuaded that Nigeria needs a man who is credible, dependable and trustworthy who will bring them out of the problems confronting the country presently.
“Nigeria needs a God-fearing man who is embroidered with compassion and love for the country. Also a man who would be readily accepted as a symbol of national unity who can bring genuine reconciliation and guarantee from the variegated conflicts.
“Nigeria is in dire need of restructuring; our federalism is simply terminological inexactitude. The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is obsolete, retrogressive and subversive to the Nigerian cause.
“The constitution could no longer subsist as the legal protocol that guarantees the peaceful co- existence of autonomous ethnicity.”
Okotie added that, his mandate, therefore, would be to set up an interim government which he had christened ‘Government of National Reconciliation and Reconstruction’ as a mechanical instrumentality for the crystallisation of a new Nigeria of our dreams.
“Our present democracy has been hijacked by elitism, mysticism, evolution modernity and global relativity. In my government, the two legislative chambers would be merged with the judiciary to create a unique judicature that would administer justice and share the enactment of legislative responsibilities with the presidency.”
“Nigeria has become a divided and segregated society. We have become polarised by ethnicity, we have also become balkanised by religious fundamentalism and fractured by political insensitivity and leadership disability.
“Nigerian politicians don’t have solution to the country problem, but the solution lies on me, if given the opportunity”.
He also urged members of his church to “bombard social media” with his message of becoming Nigeria’s president.
