Odemwingie joins Hull City trials

Peter Odemwingie has joined Hull City on trial as Steve Bruce attempts to bolster his striking options on their return to the Premier League.

The Tigers have confirmed the Nigerian international will play some part in the friendly against Mansfield on Tuesday night.

The 35-year-old was released by Stoke City this summer after a brief stint at Bristol City on loan to finish the season.

Odemwingie suffered a bad knee injury at the start of the 2014-15 campaign and although he returned at the start of last term, the former West Brom forward found himself well down the pecking order.

The striker shot to fame in January 2013 when he opted to drive down to London, without the permission of his club at the time, and park outside of Loftus Road in hope a deadline day deal to QPR would be pushed through.

Odemwingie was left embarrassed when the deadline passed, forcing him to return to training with the Baggies the next day.

The Tigers tweeted: “We can confirm that Peter Odemwingie is on trial at the Club and is expected to feature in Tuesday night’s game at Mansfield Town.”
