The National President of the Nigerian Schools Sports Federation (NSSF), Mallam Ibrahim Muhammed, has commended Coca-Cola Nigeria for its Copa Coca-Cola tournament.
Mallam Muhammed lauded the beverage giant for the initiative that supports development of the Nigerian youth through grassroots football.
He made this commendation during the Coaching Clinic segment of the programme, chaired by ex-international and former Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles, Daniel Amokachi at Jabbi Junior Secondary School, Abuja.
Tagged “Everything for Football,”Amokachi fondly called ‘The Bull’ trained the Under-15 students from the various schools ahead of the Abuja Copa Coca-Cola tournament.
Mallam Muhammed used the occasion to highlight his belief in the youth and urged Coca-Cola to continuously give its support to initiatives geared towards youth development in the country: “These children have hidden talents and despite their various backgrounds, they need to nurture their talents. The investment made in the training of these children would go a long way in aiding them in terms of discipline, education, and their overall development,” Muhammed said.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Marketing Director, Coca-Cola Nigeria, Patricia Jemibewon, expressed her excitement at the fervor and turnout portrayed by the students at the coaching clinics.
Jemibewon added: “Coca-Cola is a firm believer in the holistic development of all Nigerian children and the best way to build the Nigerian teens is to encourage them, hone their skills and help fulfil their aspirations.
Copa Coca-Cola is a great platform for this, as it gives hope to these teens, builds their confidence and innate abilities to succeed.”

The Copa Coca-Cola Coaching Clinic would be followed by the Copa Coca-Cola Tournament for Under -15 billed to commence in Abuja soon and already taking place in selected secondary schools other parts of the country.

The initiative currently attracting 1.3 million teens, competing in over 60 countries, will climax with a six-day International Camp in Berlin, Germany, featuring over 100 footballing teens from around the world, including players from Nigeria.
