A member of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Monday, mistakingly shot his colleague in Akure, Ondo State while pursuing a suspected fraudster.
The incident happened in Araromi area of the state capital, leading to pandemonium.
Freedom Online learned that the officer, while trying to scare away hoodlums who wanted to rescue the suspected fraudster, shot into the air and the bullet hit his colleague.
Policemen later stormed the area to whisk the officer and the injured colleague away. Some of the hoodlums were also arrested.
The shot officer was taken to the State Specialist Hospital and his fate is unknown as at the time of writing this report.
