MFM Football Club

Lagos-based MFM FC on Monday got the needed reprieve ahead of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) World Cup break as they defeated El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri by a lone goal.
The early morning match played at the Agege Stadium had a 14th minute goal by midfielder, Chijioke Akuneto, to give the homers the needed victory.
Earlier on Saturday, MFM FC had retained the Lagos State Cup title for the third time in three years after cruising to a 3-0 win over Smart City FC at Agege.
Speaking at a post match conference, Akuneto said he felt a reprieve that the league would go on the break for the World Cup.
“I am happy that the league is going on break, the victory today is through the grace of God. The El-Kanemi team came with a purpose maybe a win.
“We are able to defeat them. We will see what we can make of the break. We should come out stronger’’, he said.
