New education minister, state minister assume office, call for team work

The Minister of Education, Alhaji Tahir Mamman, and the Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Sununu, on Monday assumed office and called for team work to build the education sector.
They were received by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, David Adejo, Directors and heads of agencies and parastatals under the ministry.
Mamman, in his speech, called for collaboration and support from heads of parastatals, directors and members of staff to move the ministry forward.
”Our President and the entire citizens expect us to deliver. For me, I work like a bricklayer. Everyday, he goes to site, the foreman gives him blocks to lay.
”At the end of the day, he wants to see that the building come up and, within six months, the house is built. We have to have measurable systems.
”The expectation is huge and our president is committed fully towards  tackling these problems;  I enjoin every one to be part of this,” he said
Also, the Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Sununu, who thanked God for the appointment, said the time is now to surmount the challenges in the sector.
Sununu said that working together as a formidable force would help to overcome the challenges.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, David Adejo while welcoming the ministers, pledged the staff loyalty and commitment to the delivery of  services.
Adejo called on the ministers to help deliver the service the education sector would want to deliver to the citizenry.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ministers were among the 45 ministers who earlier took their oaths of office during their inauguration at the conference center of the state house in Abuja.
 Mamman, before assumption of office, was the Vice Chancellor of Baze University.
He was born in 1954 and possesses a Bachelor Degree in Laws from Ahmadu Bello University in 1983.
He went to Nigerian Law School (NLS) in 1984, and earned his Masters from the University of Warwick.
He became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2015 and is recognized member of the Board of Benchers.
He also served as the Director-General of the Nigeria Law School from 2005 to 2013.
