Mr Yakubu Kwanta, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources said the state government would address the environmental hazard
occasioned by erosion ravaging some infrastructure of the Lafia Golf Club.
Kwanta said this shortly after taking the ceremonial Tee-off of the second edition of Family Kitty of the Lafia Golf Club.
Kwanta, lamented that environmental hazard, which the club had been exposed to due to erosion, had brought down some parts of perimeter fencing and affected the playing area.
The commissioner, who said the hazard  had defaced the ecstatic and tourism nature of the club, assured its management that the state government would give the situation priority attention and address the erosion before it worsened
He further assured the club that he would expedite action on the matter, to protect the land, rebuild the aesthetics lost due to the menace because the club occupied prominent position in his heart.
He commended the club for upholding the ventures of family bonding through the organization of Family Kitty with the sole aim of celebrating the families of members of the club, through social interaction and playing golf.
He specifically thanked the event committee, headed by Dr John  Oguche, for a job well done.
Kwanta also promised to constantly remind the government of Nasarawa State of the need to continue supporting the club in sponsoring and maintaining its facilities.
Austin Okyuwa, Captain of the Club who had earlier briefed the commissioner on the state of the club, appreciated  him for gracing the event.
High point of the event was the presentation of prizes to winners of the kitty in different categories, with the star prize going to the family of Peter Damfu as the family of the year, for always coming as a family to play golf in the club.
