Misconduct: Police Service Commission dismisses 10 officers, demotes eight

Nigeria Police Force

It was a day his happiness knew no limit.
This was understandable because his child was being christened.
But, the joy of 32-year-old Kazeem Hamzat was shortlived when he was arrested by policemen in Oyo, Oyo State for allegedly stealing items worth N40,000.
Family members, friends and neighbours could not believe it when the gun-wielding security agents whisked Hamzat away from the venue of the naming ceremony.
His wife broke down, crying.
Hamzat was alleged to have stolen a bag of rice, 20 litres of vegetable oil, a bag of semovita and half a bag of flour valued at N40,000 at Gold Rock area, Oyo West Local Government.
It is, however, not clear if he stole the items for the naming ceremony.
The owner of the shop where the items were stolen was said to have reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest.
The naming was about to begin when the policemen stormed the venue and whisked him away.
