N1trn diversion: Senators walk out Lamorde’s lawyers

Lawyers defending the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition over an alleged diversion of N1 trillion were, on Wednesday, walked out by Senators.
The lawyers were led by Chile Okoroma.
They had pleaded with the committee to postpone the hearing to enable them collect auditor’s report from KPMG, EFCC’s auditing firm.
The senators were angered by this demand, insisting that Lamorde had written to them that he would appear personally before the committee.
Okoroma and other lawyers were told to leave the Hearing Room in the National Assembly immediately.
