Ahmed Musa, captain of the main Super Eagles team, believes the country’s home-based players can win the 2016 African Championship of Nations (CHAN).
The Nigerian side, which finished third at the 2014 CHAN, will begin their 2016 campaign in Rwanda when they take on Niger next Monday (January 18), before facing Tunisia and Guinea in the group phase.
CSKA Moscow forward Musa, who played at the 2009 CHAN, is adamant the West Africans can win in Rwanda, which would spell a second trophy for the country in two months after they claimed the AFCON U23 title and qualification for the Olympic Games, in Senegal last month.
“I know the team have all the qualities to win CHAN in Rwanda. I have trained with some of the players in the team and I know what they are capable of doing. I also watched the team train. I just wish them good luck and success at CHAN.”
