Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu, has commiserated with the government and people of Sierra Leone over the recent mudslide and flood that claimed hundreds of lives on the outskirts of Freetown, the nation’s capital a few days ago.
Kalu, who is also the Chief Promoter of First International Bank (FIB) and International Insurance Company (ICC) both based in Sierra Leone, described the incident as shocking and devastating.
In a message to President Ernest Koroma, Kalu said: “I am sad over the disaster that claimed scores of lives and displaced thousands of people in Regent area after heavy flooding and mudslide triggered by downpours.
“It is indeed a big loss not only to Sierra Leoneans but Africans in general.
“Our hearts, prayers and thoughts are with the bereaved families and loved ones in this sorrowful period”.
“We pray that God Almighty will comfort the families of the deceased and give them the fortitude to bear the sad losses”, Kalu added.
