Some motorists plying the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Thursday appealed to the Federal Government to fix failed sections of the road to end their nightmare on the road.
The motorists made the appeal in Lagos on the state of the inter-state road.
They said the deplorable state of some portions of the road, especially at Ile-Epo Bus Stop and toll gate area was making movement a nightmare.

A commercial bus driver, Adewale Darasimi , said the failed portions at Ile-Epo Bus Stop had reduced his daily income plying the road.

“Honestly, we motorists are really suffering a lot on the road. The portion at Ile-Epo has completely collapsed and because of the gridlock that it is causing, I make fewer trips and make less money.

“Some of my colleagues have abandoned this route because of the problem here. I really hope government would rise to the occasion and do something fast,’’ he said.

Another motorist, Uche John, said gullies on the road had made him to go for regular repairs.

“If something is not done about this section as well as the one at toll gate, it will get to a point where commercial buses will abandon the road completely,’’ he said.

A cab driver, Nosiru Ajani, said the presence of a busy market at Ile-Epo and the fact that the road linked Lagos and Ogun, was a compelling reason for the Federal Government to fix the road.
