Super Eagles striker, Victor Moses, is undoubtedly enjoying a revival in his career at Chelsea since the arrival of new manager, Antonio Conte.
The 25-year-old, who joined the club from Wigan in 2012, has started Chelsea’s last three Premier League games and, after three superb performances, he has seemingly become a mainstay in Antonio Conte’s side.
Such has been his form this term – he has scored three goals in all competitions so far – that the Nigeria international looks set to continue on in his new right wing-back role for the foreseeable future.
But it hasn’t been so easy earning a place in the Chelsea side for the midfielder.
After spending one season at the club under interim boss Rafael Benitez, the return of Jose Mourinho in 2013 seemingly spelled the end for Moses at Chelsea.
He was sent out on loan for three successive years to Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham respectively before returning this summer and being given a chance by Mourinho’s long-term successor Conte.
“He (Mourinho) never spoke to me,” Moses said ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Mourinho’s new team, Manchester United on Sunday.
“I thought in my head, ‘He’s got his own players already.’
“I think we chatted a couple of times on the phone – he asked if I was all right at Liverpool but that was it.”
