Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, has inaugurated a seven-man Committee on verification and payment of outstanding pension and gratuity of the state retirees to help cushion the effects of removal of fuel subsidy.
Inaugurating the Committee in Government House, Enugu on Wednesday, Mbah
said the Committee would be responsible for the verification, and payment of outstanding pension and gratuity of the state retirees.
He recalled that few days ago, he inaugurated a palliative committtee to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy
and “here I am more than happy to inaugurate a committee on verification, and payment of outstanding pension and gratuity of our state retirees”, he said.
According to the Governor, “the Committee was inaugurated in order to help cushion the immediate and short term effects of the removal of fuel subsidy.
“The Committee which will be chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia, has the following terms of reference:
“To determine and verify the outstanding two months pensions arrears of the state retirees.
‘To determine and verify the outstanding two months gratuity of the state retirees.
“To conduct all payments according to months, years of retirement of officers from service
and “to render monthly and quarterly reports to the secretary to the state government in respect of all payments made.”
