Mrs. Hassana Garuba, a serving Magistrate in Edo State and wife of former Speaker of the House of Assembly, has been kidnapped.
The abduction was confirmed by the state Police Command on Wednesday.
She was kidnapped at Obadan village near Ogbemudia Farms on the Benin-Okenne-Lokoja road on Tuesday ‎morning.‎
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Abiodun Osifo, said detectives were working hard to locate and set her free.
“The matter has been reported. Our men are combing the area where the incident happened‎ with a view to securing her release and arrest those responsible.
“We have deployed the necessary machinery, including electronic devices to secure her release’’, Osifo said.
Garuba was said to be travelling to Ehor where she is a Magistrate when she was kidnapped along with other persons yet to be identified.
‎‎A family source said the kidnappers had not contacted them.
