Liverpool defender, Tiago Ilori, will not be joining Sunderland on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day.
The Portugal Under-21 international had been heavily linked with a switch to the Stadium of Light and it appeared the youngster would be following Fabio Borini from Merseyside to Wearside.
However, after Borini’s permanent switch to the Black Cats was confirmed on Monday, it became clear Ilori would not be joining him for the rest of the season, despite being down the first-team pecking order at Anfield.
The 22-year-old has yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Reds since his move there two years ago and has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Granada and Bordeaux in France.
