Kudos as NIMASA Director, Lami Tumaka presents paper on Maritime at Egypt AMAA Conference

The Director, Special Duties, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Haji Lami Tumaka, was the cynosure of all eyes at the fourth African Association of Maritime Administrations (AAMA) Conference in Egypt.
Venue was the Sheikh El Sharm in the North African country.

Amid applause, she presented a paper on ‘Role of Maritime Administrations in the Protection of Marine Environment for Sustainable Development’.
The Director-General of NIMASA and the Number One Maritime Administrator in Africa, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, joined others in giving Tumaka kudos for the wonderful presentation.

Tumaka, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, presented the paper on behalf of NIMASA.
She spoke on Role of Maritime Administrations, the Blue Economy and Sustainable Development Goals, Importance of Marine Environment to Africa, How to avoid polluting the Ocean, Categories of Ocean Pollution, Consequences of Marine Pollution to the Continent, Strategies by NIMASA to Ensure Sustainable Development, Challenges faced by Maritime Administrations, Identification, Removal and Recycling of Ship Wreckages and other related issues.
The audience broke into rapturous applause at the end of the lucid presentation.

Dakuku Peterside, who corroborated her, added that collaboration among African countries, maritime administrators and administrations “is key to maritime development”.
Speakers from other African countries were unanimous that the presentation by NIMASA would form the nucleus of their maritime policies.
