Kaduna monarch, nephew murdered; El-Rufai talks tough

Gunmen on Sunday night killed Mr Bala Madaki, District Head of Fadan Karshi in Numana Chiefdom of Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Madaki was killed alongside his nephew, Emmanuel Tanko, 19, at his residence in Fadan Karshi.
The Sanga Interim Management Committee Chairman, Mr Nuhu Audu, confirmed the killings and called for urgent investigation into their death.
He said that the community was in need of more security presence in the wake of threat by unknown gunmen.
Audu said the deceased contributed immensely to peace building in the area, adding that his death was a blow to the people.
Also, the Etu Numana, Malam Gambo Makama, described the death of Madaki as a great loss to the entire Sanga community.
Makama appealed to the people, especially the youths, not to take the law into their hands.
Meanwhile, Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i on Monday vowed to ensure the arrest and prosecution of those behind the killings.
El-Rufa’i in a statement by his media aide, Samuel Aruwan, urged residents of Sanga Local Government to remain calm and cooperate with the security agents to arrest the perpetrators.
“It is a sad development. But we will not relent in our duty of protecting our people. We shall continue to strengthen the security agencies to do a better job, as well as encourage harmonious coexistence across our communities.
“The gains made in recent months to eliminate violent communal clashes in the area must be upheld.
“We must all be vigilant and do our best to maintain the peace in our communities,” he said.
