Alleged $25,000 bribe: EFCC plays audio conversation between Shehu Sani, CEO of ASD in court

Two All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants in Kaduna State, including a former Police Commissioner, have accused Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna Central, of forgery.

The two aspirants are Sani Magaji and Yusuf Ali (Raba Gardama). They are all seeking for the House of Representatives seats in the 2019 elections.

Magaji, a former Akwa Ibom and Enugu states’ Commissioner of Police, in a petition to the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, alleged that Senator Shehu Sani forged his signature on a document which linked him to having endorsed direct primary election in the state.

Ali also alleged that he was never consulted before his name and signature were smuggled on the said document.

They both dissociated themselves from the lawmaker’s position on direct primary mode of election and vowed to take the serving senator to court.

Magaji said he was deeply disturbed by Sani’s action, noting that as a former police commissioner, his reputation was being eroded by the “dubious endorsement.”

“As a retired Commissioner of Police, I feel disturbed by this reckless attempt to link my image and the professional integrity I have built over the years, to that dubious endorsement.

“As an experienced law enforcement officer, I find this criminal act repugnant, indecent, a smear on decorum and, therefore, totally unacceptable.

“I would like to make it abundantly clear that, while my loyalty to the party and its leadership remains unshaken, I cannot be a part of any incriminating political gang-up against the state of my birth.

“I, therefore, stand solidly behind the Indirect Primaries model adopted by the leadership of my great party at that level.

“I, therefore, categorically disown the so-called endorsement being circulated with my name on the list.

“I wish to use this opportunity to announce to the leadership of my great party, that as a conscious of his responsibility to stand by the truth, I will take Senator Shehu Sani to court,” he added.

On his part, Ali while dissociating himself from the purported endorsement of the direct primary, said he was never consulted by Sani.

The aspirant said he was utterly surprise by the desperation displayed by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign and Domestic Debts on the direct primary mode of election in the state.

Ali said: “It has become imperative to set the record straight. I have not been invited nor attended any meeting called by Shehu Sani on direct primaries, yet to my greatest surprise, a list bearing my name and purported signature in support of direct primaries in Kaduna State APC is in circulation.

”I am utterly surprised that Senator Sani, in his desperation, has resorted to such an undemocratic practice to further his own personal agenda.

“I couldn’t remember anytime that he called a meeting of his constituents in Kaduna Central Senatorial District to discuss any national or political issue.

”The antics of Shehu Sani depict a sinking politician who can hold unto anything including a snake to prevent himself from drowning.”

When contacted, the Senator through his Senior Special Adviser on Politics and Ideology, Mallam Suleiman Ahmed, said the lawmaker was too big to forge anybody’s signature for the purpose of fighting an illegality.

He noted that any aspirant supporting indirect primary is a coward.

“Any aspirant supporting the indirect primary is a coward who is seeking for patronage from the state governor.

“Senator Shehu Sani is too big to forge anybody’s signature. Everybody knows that the Senator has been fighting the illegality of indirect primary and could stand alone. He had done it before since the inception of this democracy in 1999,” he added.
