Rather than thaw, the crisis in Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has deepened.
A few hours after some officials of the Kaduna State Urban Development Authority (KASUDA) ordered Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi to pay eight-year ground rent on his property situated along Sambo Road in the state capital, Governor Nasir El-Rufai ordered the officials with some security agents to demolish the house.
Last week, some leaders of the party in the North-West state opened a factional APC state secretariat in the repainted house with APC flag conspicuously hoisted.
El-Rufai and some of his aides were also suspended.
On Monday, about 3.49 p.m., KASUDA officials served a notice of non payment of ground rent on the property and ordered Hunkuyi to pay immediately.
At 4 a.m. on Tuesday, KASUDA officials and some heavily-armed security personnel stormed the premises and demolished the building.
The guard was told to leave before the demolition. Even the APC flag was not spared.
Initially, there was panic as some residents didn’t understand what was going on with the Gestapo way the officials stormed the premises.
Later, an elderly man summoned courage to approach the officials. One of them told him: “It is order from above”.
The paralled APC secretariat was reduced to rubbles before the officials left the scene.
