The hope of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Bayelsa State governorship election, Timipre Sylva, of governing the South-South state for another term was shattered on Sunday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the incumbent and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Henry Seriake Dickson, as the winner of the election.
The election was first held on December 5 but the exercise was declared inconclusive.
A supplementary election was held on Saturday and when the Returning Officer, Prof. Zana Akpagu, announced the result, Dickson was declared the winner with 134,998 votes.
Sylva got 86,852 votes.
While APC members wore a mournful look, there was wild jubilation across the state by PDP members.
