Chartterd Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) said it would continue to enhance the growth of human resources personnel management in the country.
Mr Olusegun Mojeed, the President of CIPM, gave the assurance at the opening of the 54th International Conference and Exhibitions in Port Harcourt.
Mojeed, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Council, said the theme of the conference tagged “Leading People; Growing Nations” was aimed at building and developing people for the growth of the nation.
According to him, when people subject themselves to be lead, they are empowered to grow the nation, “that’s why we will continue to lead people who will be sincere to developing this nation”.
Mojeed said the objective of the conference was to make sure that people learnt from qualified instructors and returned to their different organizations, both in public and private sectors, to apply what they learnt to improve their services.
Similarly, Mojeed said that the conference would also strengthen business acumen, appreciate macro economic trends and the impact on people management practices.
He noted that the conference would develop the next generation of human resources practitioners in Africa, actively promote high standards of ethics and integrity based on a deep understanding of the Nigeria Labour Law,
Mojeed said it would create strong avenues via which the people would learn and grow with Nigerian, African, and Global Academic Communities and enhance CIPM’s brand image as Nigerian’s apex human resource regulatory body.
He commended the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, who played the host for his support.
In his speech, Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo, commended the group for it’s consistent contribution for 54 years, to issues related to personnel management for enhanced growth of the nation.
Obaseki, who was represented by Mr Anthony Okungbowa, the Edo State Head of Service, urged the organization not to relent in growing the nation through human personnel management.
He said that Edo state’s human resources management would continue to be part of the process that CIPM was championing for nation building.
Mr Felix Otuwariko, the traditional rulers of Okpata kingdom in Ahoada East Local Government, urged the President and the governing body to enlist some members of the traditional council across the country.
Otuwariko said that traditional rulers were equally managing human resources at their various kingdoms, urging the institute to harness the potentials in the country and make Nigeria a better place.
