The fortune of a domestic airline in the country seems to be nose diving as some of its top Executive Officers and pilots are resigning their appointments due to what an insider described as ‘paucity of funds’.
Freedom Online learned that the latest to quit is a top Executive Officer who was employed by the airline last year.
He said: “The top Executive Officer decided to resign because of over 11 months outstanding salaries and allowances owed workers even when the airline has started making huge profits post Covid-19 era”.
He said two pilots of the airline also resigned their appointments over delay in salaries.
There are indications that another five pilots may leave the airline before the end of this month over the same issue.
Recently, a former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the airline resigned his appointment.
The source claimed that the COO left “because of the financial distress the airline is facing”.
It was learnt that the airline owes the former COO about N20 million as outstanding salaries and allowance.
He resigned about four months ago.
Further investigation revealed that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) may ground the airline over what the source referred to as ‘insolvency’.
