Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Chizoba, and son, Chizi who died in the United States (U.S.) on February 9 were buried on Saturday in his hometown, Omueke, Isiokpo in Rivers State.
The trio of Herbert, Chizoba, and Chizi Wigwe, alongside former Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), Abimbola Ogunbanjo, as well as two pilots, were all in the Airbus Helicopter EC 130B4 with registration number N130CZ, which crashed near Halloran Springs, California, on February 9.
Bankers, governors, businessmen and other eminent Nigerians were present in Isiokpo to pay their final respects.
The former Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, his wife, and son were laid to rest in a private interment following a funeral church service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo.
The funeral service commenced at 11 am after a Christian wake keep was organised in their honour.
Among those at the service were the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Mr. Peter Obi, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; business leader, Aliko Dangote; Muhammadu Sanusi II, Governors Sim Fubara (Rivers), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Alex Otti (Abia), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), former Senate President Bukola Saraki and others.
Security was provided by the State Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu.
