Gunmen believed to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram, at the weekend, stormed Dar, a village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State and killed 12 people.
The invasion was commando like.
An eyewitness said immediately they entered the village around 8:30pm on Saturday, “they started shooting and people started running helter skelter”.
He said grenades were thrown into the midst of those who ran into the bush, killing many of them.
Former Chairman of Madagali Local Government, Maina Ularamu, described the attackers as beasts.
He said: “A large number of gunmen invaded the village, forcing residents to flee to a nearby bush. Two of the attackers disguised as part of the fleeing villagers and they threw the grenades which killed many people. Those who sustained injuries were evacuated to the hospital by policemen. These attackers behave like animals. In fact, they are beasts”.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Othman Abubakar, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), confirmed the attack.
