Governor converts new Government House built by predecessor to hotel (see pix)

The new Government House inaugurated in May 2023 by former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has been converted to hotel.

According to his successor, Dr. Alex Otti, the structure is a security risk to his life and Government House officials because it was built inside a private residential area.

It also lacks necessary facilities.
Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, who spoke on behalf of Otti, disclosed that the structure does not have a functional elevator, while the interior of the upper floors was in shambles without necessary facilities.

“Only the first floor of the Government House was completed and furnished, while the upper ones are exposed to many structural defects despite huge public funds spent on the project”.
