Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi, has assured that the Corps will continue to develop the capacity of staff for increased productivity.
He stated this on Monday while declaring open the one-week training workshop being organised by the Corps Medical and Rescue Services to expose its personnel to new techniques in moving and handling of patients
Represented by Assistant Corps Marshal Samuel Obayemi, the Zonal Commanding Officer of Zone RS9 Enugu at the programme taking place at the FRSC Academy, Udi, Enugu State, it is part of the staff capacity development programme of the Corps, aimed at updating the professional knowledge of the participants on how to move and handle patients most efficiently, using modern techniques and equipment in line with global best practice.
Oyeyemi said staff capacity development programme “is part of the holistic measures we are putting in place to address issues of competence, efficiency and creation of conducive working environment to motivate staff for increased productivity,”
According to the Corps Marshal, building healthy workforce and providing them with sufficient capacity to handle their various assignments would increase their productivity and make it possible for them to handle their assignments more diligently. “That is why Management has continued to create opportunities for staff at both local and international levels to get them trainings that could develop their mental, intellectual and professional competencies and impact on their efficiency and productivity,” he further stated.
“This training programme, which is centred on how to move and handle patients using modern techniques and equipment, is expected to be of tremendous benefit to the participants. Accordingly, you must strive to derive maximum benefits from the Resource Persons who would expose you to various areas in the field of moving and handling of patients.
“They would also practically demonstrate the techniques with modern equipment in order to improve your competence. You should, therefore pay particular attention to the topics that would be introduced to you in the course of the programme, which you are expected to teach those that are not here,” the Corps Marshal stated.
While congratulating the participants for the opportunity of the training, Oyeyemi urged them to justify the investment and equally challenged them to provide useful contributions by asking relevant questions that could engender further interests and ideas in the field, for the benefit of every participant.
“It is my sincere hope that you would come out of this training more equipped and well prepared for the assignments you handle in your various hospitals and clinics,” Oyeyemi stated.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Commandant of the FRSC Academy, Udi, and the Head of Corps Medical and Rescue Services, commended the Corps Marshal for the emphasis being placed on staff capacity development, stressing that such policy would have create impact in the current quest for increased productivity in the Corps.
The one-week training programme has as its theme, “Moving and Handling of patients,” which is expected to expose the participants to the new techniques in the field of moving and handling of patients in order to reduce complications in managing their conditions.
