Teachers and pensioners in Ekiti State have commended Governor Ayodele Fayose for the remarkable achievements recorded in his first term in office, despite the obvious political and economic challenges confronting his administration.
The teachers and pensioners, under the aegis of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and Nigeria Union of Pensioners ( NUP), said “we are proud of the governor and his determination to move the state forward”.
In a statement signed by the NUT State Chairman Comrade ‎S.K Akosile, and two others and the State Chairman of the NUP, Elder Ayo Kumapayi and one other person, in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, the unions also extolled Fayose’s leadership qualities.
“Your Excellency, teachers in Ekiti State are very proud of your 365 remarkable days in office with record breaking monumental achievements and accomplishments not only for teachers, but for the people of Ekiti State.
“The teachers and their union are proud of you and joyous to say that you have put smiles on our faces, honey in our mouths and happiness in our minds within the period of your one year in office despite the paucity of fund biting ‎hard on states of the federation,” the NUT said.
Similarly, ‎the pensioners lauded the governor particularly the step he had taken to make sure that the federal government pays them their pensions.
The NUP said,”We thank you for the love you have for pensioners believing that your administration ‎ will pay pensions and gratuities of pensioners before the expiration of your term.
“We are particularly happy at your efforts to ensure that the federal government approves your request for the balance of the bail-out fund for pensioners who were excluded from the recently-approved bail-out ‎fund to 27 states of the federation.”
The union leaders also wished the governor more resounding success in the next three years of his administration.
