To boost the teaching of science education in the country, the Federal Government will soon recruit more than 500 science teachers from Kwara.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Sakariya Onimago, disclosed this in IIorin on Monday in an interview.
He said that the ministry and the state Universal Basic Education Board had been collating the credentials of qualified science teachers who have the NCE for the recruitment exercise.
Onimago said that officials from the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja would soon arrive in the state to carry out the exercise.
The commissioner also said that officials from his ministry had visited some schools in the state to ascertain schools in urgent need of science teachers.
He reiterated the commitment of the government to continuous recruitment of teachers, saying: “On quarterly basis, the ministry always examines the number of teachers who had retired from service in order to replace them.’’
