The Federal Government has tasked the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on professionalism and efficient traffic management in the country.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, gave the charge at the 1st Quarter 2023 Strategy Sessions for Commanding Officers on Wednesday in Abuja.

Mustapha, was represented on the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the General Services, Mr Maurice Mbaeri.

The SGF said that road transportation and transportation management would continue to play vital roles and significantly contribute in shaping global, national and individual economies.

According to him, it is important for industry regulators such as officers and men to be more professional and knowledgeable about best practices.

“It is also important for them to know and be aware of the demands of their jobs, to render more efficient traffic management services.

“I, therefore, commend the resilience and commitment of the corps toward building a sustainable and purpose-driven enforcement agency.

“This, in which is through periodic agenda setting, effective communication of corporate goals and management expectations of officers and men, as well as the training and retraining of personnel,’’ he said.

Earlier, the Corps Marshal, FRSC, Dauda Biu, emphasized that the agency would continue to inculcate in the members of staff, the need to remain professional in every aspect of its service delivery.

“I say this because professionalism attracts high public approval ratings, while unprofessional conducts attract public odium.

“We must eschew crises and improve on our conflict management skills, in such a manner that does not deteriorate to attacks on our facilities and critical infrastructure.

“We must continually train and retrain operatives, who are in direct interface with members of the public, on quality service delivery.

“This is important, to disabuse their minds from all forms of corruption including bribery, extortion, and various acts of incivility toward members of the public,’’ he said.
