Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban said an agreement on migration at Friday’s EU leaders’ summit in Spain was impossible after his country was outvoted.
The outvoting was carried out earlier this week on a different migration-related issue.
On Wednesday, a sufficient majority of EU states reached a compromise on a future set of rules for the event of a particular high number of migrant arrivals.
Hungary and Poland did not back the deal.
“If you are raped legally, forced to accept something what (sic) you don’t like, how would you like to have a compromise?,’’ Orban said, as he arrived at the meeting in the Granada.
“Politically, it’s impossible. Not today, generally speaking, for the next years,’’ he stated.
The last attempt by EU leaders to agree on a joint declaration on migration in June failed over diverging views.
