Arsenal’s claim of wrongful dismissal over Gabriel’s red card against Chelsea on Saturday has been upheld, following an FA hearing.
As a result, the player’s three-match suspension has been withdrawn with immediate effect.
Gabriel was dismissed for violent conduct during Saturday’s game against Chelsea after clashing with Blues striker Diego Costa, who had also been involved in a confrontation with Laurent Koscielny.
The defender is currently subject to a separate FA charge of improper conduct in relation to that game and has until 6pm on Thursday to reply.
Arsenal and Chelsea have also been charged with failing to control their players during the game.
Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been banned for three matches for violent conduct following an incident in Saturday’s match against Arsenal, the Football Association has announced.
The ban means the Spain striker will miss Wednesday’s League Cup tie at Walsall – a game in which he was always due to be among the substitutes – and the Premier League matches at Newcastle and at home to Southampton.
“An FA charge against Diego Costa for violent conduct not seen by the match officials but caught on video has been found proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing,” read the statement.
“The Chelsea forward will, therefore, serve the standard penalty of a three-match suspension with immediate effect.
“The charge, which the player denied, was in relation to an incident involving Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny in the 43rd minute of the game on Saturday September 19, 2015.”
