One-time Super Eagles sensation, Ekigho Ehiosun, who was enough playing time in the national team by former coach Samson Siasia, has rejoined his former club Samsunspor on a year’s deal from Genclerbirligi.
‘Iron Man’ Ehiosun was a big hit for Samsunspor when he joined them from Warri Wolves for 2011/2012 season, when he scored nine goals in 31 games before he went on to join Genclerbirligi on a three-year deal.
Ekigho expressed his delight to return to a club he calls home.
“This is my home. My experience here was very nice. I agreed to come when they requested for me. I am dreaming of helping the team return to the Super League. If we work hand in hand with the manager and the supporters will succeed,” he said.
Injury limited his appearances for Genclerbirligi last season.
Ekigho will now play alongside compatriot Umar Aminu in the new season, which kicks off this weekend.
Meanwhile, Flying Eagles star Aminu Umar made his debut for the Turkish club Samsunspor in a pre-season game against Orduspor at the weekend.
Umar sported jersey number 20 and started the game and lasted for 78th minutes in a goalless draw on Saturday evening.
He was a denied a goal-scoring debut when the Orduspor goalkeeper made a big save to stop his shot from the edge of the box from finding the back of the net in the second half.
The former Wikki Tourists striker has signed a three and half contract with the ambitious Turkish second division side and he is expected to score vital goals for them as they look forward to promotion to the Super League by season’s end.
