A Professor of Economics, Prof. Evans Osabiohien has described the death of the former Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Prof. Charles Ayo, as a rude shock to the university and Academic world as a whole.
Osabuohien, who is also the Head, Economics Department of the institution, made this known in an interview on Thursday in Ota, Ogun.
He said that the institution commiserated with the family and friends over the demise of the former vice-chancellor.
NAN reports that the late Covenant varsity VC, who was born on Oct. 31,1958 died after a brief illness on Wednesday morning.
He said that the late Ayo was the Vice-Chancellor of Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos.
According to him, late Ayo was a man of high cerebral sagacity.
“The new of the death of Prof. Ayo came to the university community as a rude shocker.
“His demise is a great lost to Nigeria’s higher education.” he said.
He said that the deceased who was a professor of Computer Science, played various roles in the university, including the pioneer President, Covenant University Multipurpose Cooperative Society and the immediate past President of Gideons International.
He was also a former Head of Computer and Information Sciences Department, President of Mustard Seed International Outreach-a ministry founded by him for helping the needy and distribution of tracts and Bibles,
Pioneer Director, Academic Planning Unit, among others.
Osabuohien prayed his soul rest in eternal peace and God to grant the family and friends the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
