Nigerian music megastar, Davido, has hosted an exclusive meet-and-greet event to commemorate the release of his highly anticipated fifth studio album, “5IVE”.

Freedomonline  reports that the event was powered by Spotify music streaming platform.

It brought together 50 lucky superfans and five media partners for a rare, behind-the-scene look at the Afrobeats megastar.

In a unique twist, Spotify required fans to pass a five-question quiz on Davido’s music to earn a spot at the roundtable discussion.

This approach not only showcased the artist’s dedication to his fans but also ensured that the attendees were genuinely passionate about his work.

The event was hosted by Ire-culture, who set the tone with her infectious energy, while SmallztheDJ kept the vibe going with smooth afrobeats-driven selections.

After teasing his absence, Davido made a dramatic, surprise entrance, sending fans into a frenzy.

The moment perfectly reflected the artiste’s personality – engaging, unpredictable, and larger-than-life.

During the close-knit roundtable conversation, fans shared their love for 5IVE, with “10 Kilo” emerging as an early favourite.

Davido also reflected on his journey, stating, “When you see artistes like Beyoncé, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Rihanna, you realise the work it takes to get there.

“This time, I wanted to go all out, and I’m seeing the results,” he said.

The event highlighted the deep connection between Davido and his fans, with each guest leaving with a gift box featuring five fashion items from Nigerian streetwear brand, Severe Nature.

According to Spotify data, Davido’s music has been added to over 12 million playlists worldwide in the past 12 months, showcasing his growing global influence.

His reach spans key markets including Nigeria, the U.S., U.K., South Africa, and France, with 34 per cent of his listeners aged between 18 and 24 and 41 per cent aged 25 to 34.

Victor Okapala, Spotify’s Artiste and Label Partnerships lead for West Africa, noted, “This event is a testament to the power of music to bring fans and artistes closer together.

“Working with Davido on the release of 5IVE highlights the energy surrounding Afrobeats globally, and the deep connection we see between the artiste and his fans,” he said
