Dangote Fertilizer will commence operations second week of April, 2021.
This was disclosed by the Regional sales director, South- East, Bankole George, at the Dangote special day held Thursday , at the 32nd Enugu international trade fair, holding at the Trade Fair complex, Golf Estate, Enugu.
He said it was as announced by the Group President / Chief Executive of Dangote Industries , Aliko Dangote.
Bankole added that, Dangote Industries Limited is the nation’s foremost indigenous conglomerate. “We are a diversified group with interests in cement, sugar, salt, poly products, real estate, agriculture, logistics, telecommunications, steel, oil and gas among others.”
He said that they have three subsidiaries listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange(NSE). They include Dangote cement plc, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc(DSR) and NASCON”.
The regional sales director noted that Enugu International trade Fair remains an avenue for them to connect with their customers in the south east .
“We are regular participants at other major trade fairs across the country as a means of demonstrating our belief that Chamber of Commerce and Industry occupy a unique position in driving economic. development through their activities.
“Our continuous efforts to innovate, create value and invest in Nigeria are home out of our firm belief in the vast economic potential of Nigeria.
“This has also informed our desire to invest massively in some states across the country. Our Target is to ensure that Nigeria becomes self-sufficient in all the sectors where we play, cement, agriculture, mining and petroleum, ” he said.
In a Goodwill message, one of the heads, Dangote Fertilizer, Ekene Obiefuna, said that their fertilizer plant was built at the cost of $2.5 billion.
He emphasised the need for farmers to test the soil before planting, inorder to determine the type of fertilizer to use.
“We do soil test, when done, they will recommend the type of fertilizer that will be used.We train farmers on how best to tend to their farms for a better yeild.
According to him, “The fertilizer plant will be producing 3 million.metric tonnes annually.
Thirty percent to be used nationally.” he said.
Obiefuna said that in Enugu region, they will train the farmers. They will support those that want to do new yam festivals and set up farm laboratory in all the regions.
He disclosed that what they are producing at present is urea. Urea has nitrogen concentration of 46 percent.
In his presentation, Azubike Spencer of Dangote Salt, highlighted the importance of salt and it’s business potentialities . ” Salt has a lot of value chain”.
He encouraged people , especially who have no jobs to go into salt trading, saying that the business thrives.
Presentations were also made for Dangote sugar and Dangote cement.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the president of Enugu Chamber of Commerce ,Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), Sir Emeka Nwandu, represented by the Vice president, Engr. Nnonye Osakwe, expressed happiness that Dangote Group Plc has been part of ECCIMA’s success story in the hosting of the Enugu International trade Fair over the years.
“There is no doubt that Dangote Group Plc has added a lot of value to the growth of the Nigerian economy, operating in almost every sector of the economy.
“As we look forward to Dangote refinery coming on steam, we believe it will go a long way in addressing the challenges and problems associated with availability and cost of refined petroleum products in Nigeria.
” Today, Dangote business and entrepreneurship indulgence has spread to many parts of African continent , employing thousands of people across the world of which not less than 85 percent are Nigerians.
” The exploits of the Dangote Group shows great level of high degree vision creative thinking , research, innovations, doggedness , hardwork, and industry , which has culminated to what one can describe as the Dangote business and industrial empire today, ” he said.
The ECCIMA president commended the chairman and chief executive officer of Dangote Groups, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, management and stafff of the organisation for their untiring and adventurous spirit in contributing to the growth of the Nigerian economy.
“I have no doubt that in the years to come, Dangote Group would become not only a big industrial player in Nigeria and Africa, but the whole globe, deepening the creation of wealth and employment generation,” Nwandu said.
