Misconduct: Police Service Commission dismisses 10 officers, demotes eight

Nigeria Police Force

Three policemen were killed in the early hours of Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State during an exchange of gunfire with some kidnappers.
The hoodlums had stormed the house of Jerry Needam, spokesman of the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Felix Obuah.
It is not clear if the abductors wanted to take Needam away for a ransom or to assassinate him.
At the end of the shooting spree, many rooms and vehicles in the compound were riddled with bullets.
When the hoodlums arrived at his residence, they started shooting sporadically to gain access into the compound.
Needam was said to have immediately put a call to the state police command.
On the order of Police Commissioner, Musa Kimo, policemen stormed the place within minutes.
Then, shootings started.
An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and two other officers died in the process.
Two other policemen and Needam’s security guard were wounded.
They have been admitted at a private hospital in Port Harcourt.
During a meeting with Kimo, the police boss told Needam that the culprits would be arrested.
