Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga, Jr. has been commended for robustly supporting worthy philanthropic initiatives across the African continent.
The Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu, gave the commendation while presenting a N1 million cheque to the Proprietor of Abolarin College, Oke Ila Orangun, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, at the 2015 edition of the Globacom-sponsored Ovation Carol held last
Sunday at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos.
The event was compered by ace Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and on-air-personality, Daala Oruwaari.

Momodu said at the carol with the theme Christmas in Lagos, it’s all about hope that Dr Adenuga epitomises unequalled charity and love for
the good of others which has made him to made unobtrusive impact on
the lives of thousands of Nigerians through his numerous business
concerns and in his personal capacity as a philanthropist. He stressed
that the high point of the Ovation carol was the assistance to the
needy which rekindles hope for the hopeless.
Oba Abolarin, who prides himself as the ambassador of the poor, expressed appreciation to the organizers for the support and disclosed that he decided to start a full boarding school strictly for the poor in order to give helpless children opportunities to be educated.
“It is a school where we strive to give the children of the poor and the helpless good education at zero cost to their parents”, he added.

He enjoined Nigerians to always spare a thought for the poor in the
society in order to make the environment safe for parents and their
offspring, adding “if we failed to heed the clarion call our children
may be consumed by the neglected poor.”

The exquisite event was kicked off with soulful rendition of sundry
Christmas songs by the Ovation Choral Group followed in quick
succession by performances by Omawumi Megbele, Gbenga Adenuga, F.A. from Liberia, StoneBwoy from Ghana and Atlanta, Georgia based opera maestro, Abiodun Koya. DJ Cuppy was also on hand to give the young and
the young-at-heart a dance hall treat on the juke box.
The appearance of American music legend, Evelyn Champagne King on the stage increased the tempo of the carol.
King did a couple of her evergreen numbers including ‘I’m in love’ and ‘Love come down’ which received loud ovation from the crowd who went
down memory lane with the 54-year-old delectable singer.
The excitement generated by King was later accentuated by world famous show boy ‘Wizkid’ who turned the event into a huge party with guests dancing and singing along with him as he belted out his popular tunes.
Juju legend, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi put the icing on the evening’s proverbial cake as he made his regal appearance on stage with the full ensemble of his band.
He churned out evergreen tunes which earned him the “Baba Miliki” sobriquet to the admiration of the
guests who obviously enjoyed his performance and kept asking for more.
The energetic 74-year-old Juju star, who stood throughout his
performance, subsequently entertained the appreciative guests till the wee hours of the next day.
Guests including the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi; Mr Femi Otedola, Mr Tony Elumelu and Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi graced the occasion among other prominent Nigerians.
