APC presidential primaries: Buhari scores 2,931,235 votes in Kano, 802,819 in Katsina, 247,847 in Zamfara, 472,344 in Sokoto

President Muhammadu Buhari has secured 2,931,235 votes at the just concluded presidential primary election held across the 484 wards in the 44 local government areas of Kano State.
The figure is contained in a statement by Mr Abba Anwar, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, in Kano on Saturday.
According to him, Ganduje announced the result of the election at the party collation centre.
He explained that the governor retired to the state party secretariat, which served as the collation centre for the exercise after casting his vote at his Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state.
Ganduje assured Kano’s total support to the candidature of Buhari as the sole candidate who will carry the party’s flag come 2019.
“Our support is without any doubt looking at the result of this all-encompassing and highly participatory process,’’ Anwar quoted the governor saying after announcing the result.
He attributed the massive turnout of registered party members during the primary to stakeholders’ effort at mobilising party members to consolidate the gains of direct primary election process.
“People believe that President Muhammadu Buhari is up and doing. While APC manifesto is a clear and direct manifestation of Buhari’s love for the country.
“Ours is just to replicate the good work enunciated by this complete gentleman, our dear leader,” Ganduje said in the statement.
Katsina APC, on Saturday, announced that Buhari scored 802,819 votes during the direct presidential primaries conducted in the state.
Governor Aminu Masari, who is the Returning Officer of Katsina APC, declared the direct primaries result at the party’s secretariat in Katsina.
According to him, the APC registered a total of 926, 296 people in the state.
“During the primaries a total of 813, 877 people were accredited but only 802,819 cast their votes and Buhari won the primaries.
“The winner of the primaries in Katsina State is President Muhammadu Buhari as he scored the highest votes.
“I, Aminu Masari hereby declared that Buhari had won the election conducted in 361 wards of Katsina state,” he said.
Earlier, the state chairman of APC, Alhaji Shitu A. Shitu said that the election was conducted peacefully without any form of violence.
“We used the register that was brought to us from the parties’ headquarters at Abuja of our registered members and it did not include the names of people who newly registered” he said.
Shitu disclosed that the election was conducted under the watchful eyes of INEC, security agents and journalists in the state.
In Zamfara State, Governor Abdul’aziz Yari announced that Buhari polled 98 per cent votes in the state at the APC presidential primary election.
The Governor, who served as the party’s State Returning Officer for the Presidential Primary, made the announcement while declaring result of the primaries conducted in all the 147 Wards of the 14 Local Government areas of the state on Saturday.
He said that Buhari, who is the only presidential aspirant for the position, scored 247,847 representing 98% of the total number of the registered APC members in the North-West state.
He said despite the fact that Buhari was the sole aspirant for the position of President, the APC resolved to hold its primaries with a view to weighing the President’s acceptability amongst APC faithful.
The governor, who was impressed with the way and manner the APC members conducted themselves, urged them to reflect same in the future primaries in the interest of the party and the nation.
He assured that the party’s remaining primaries would equally be conducted freely and fairly which would lead to its success at all levels in the upcoming 2019 General Elections.
The governor commended the INEC officials, security agencies and the media for ensuring a successful exercise.
In Sokoto State, scored 472, 344 votes in the 23 local government areas
Declaring the result on Saturday in Sokoto, the Chief Returning Officer, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, said the exercise was hitch free and recorded massive turnout.
Wamakko, former Sokoto State governor, commended party loyalists on the peaceful conduct of the exercise, saying that the results were delayed in view of distance and terrains to the collection centre.
At the collection centre, which is the state party headquarters, Wamakko was assisted by state party chairman, Alhaji Sadiq Achida, Elders Committee’s Chairman, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi among others.
He listed the scores from LGAs, Sokoto South 36, 710, Wamakko 31, 941, Shagari 21, 920, Tureta 8, 779, Sokoto North 26, 787, Silame 13, 205, Raba 14, 705, Kebbe 15, 932, Bodinga 22, 188 and Isa 25, 010.
Others were Wurno 13, 243, Kware 17, 970, Binji 7, 478, Goronyo 20, 777, Yabo 11, 008, Tambuwal 23, 347, Tangaza 15, 079, Dange-Shuni 21, 024, Gwadabawa 26, 172, Illela 31, 692, Gada 27, 069, Sabon-Birni 31, 492 and Gudu 8,850.
