Ejiofor scored 370 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr Ogechukwu Obasa, who scored 179 votes in the keenly contested election.

Also elected were Nwabueze Emebo as Secretary; Dennis Maduabum as Chief Provost, while the other 11 candidates were elected unopposed by the electorate at the community civic centre.

The Electoral Committee Chairman, Mr Ndubuisi Maduekwe, described the election as free, fair and credible, and urged the new executive members to abide by their oath of office.

In his acceptance speech, the elected President-General, Ejiofor, said that he was very happy and grateful to God for making the election a successful one.

“I am grateful to the great people of Oba, they have done noble. As you can see people are jubilating, when you give people what they want, the will of the people will be done.

“I commend everyone and it ended in praise. I urge everyone of you to join hands to make Oba a place to live in.

“I have one agenda now that the people have spoken, we are going to unite and become stronger, we are going to restore the dignity of Oba this time around.

“It is unfortunate that for two weeks now or thereabout, we experienced industrial blackout. By the grace of God, it will not happen again under my regime,” Ejiofor said.

In his reaction, the outgone Caretaker President-General, Mr Osita Ubadi, expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the election.

Ubadi said that the election was a long-awaited contest.
